Welcome to the official Foynes International Flying Boat Festival website. This year we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the first proving flight from Botwood in Newfoundland to Foynes in Ireland, paving the way for making Foynes the centre of the aviation world and the European hub bewteen North America and Europe. The two airlines involved in this historic event in July 1937 were Pan American Airways and Imperial Airways. This was a momentous occasion and we will be celebrating it in style as one of Irelands most colourful, unique, activity and fun packed festival weekends. With music, street entertainment, spectacular fireworks and of course the arrival of the "Vintage Lady" at Foynes on July 6th having completed her flight from Botwood, Newfoundland. This will mark one of the most important events in aviation history. You can get all the information you require on the festival right here on our Whats On page NOTICE: |
